What exactly is baton twirling?

Posted By Tim O'Keefe on May 2, 2010

When my wife, Stacey, received a phone call about providing photography services for an upcoming state competition baton event, her initial question was “OK, great. So is this cheerleading or gynmastics?”  Needless to say, it’s much different from both.  Our girls are into swimming, soccer, basketball and volleyball, so this was a first for us.  Audrey from the Showstoppers School of Baton and Dance was a gracious host and provided an excellent event.

We were blown away by this event and had to bring our girls to see it on the second day of the competition.  Our youngest one, was really watching and admiring the girls in the competition, can’t you tell?  (LOOK AT THE LAST IMAGE)  Her leg was almost over her head right?
